How to use: Best used in salads, hummus, nutritious mixed bowls, burgers, wraps and just roast it to eat it as a snack.
Recipe: Chana Curry
Soak 2 cups dried chickpeas for 4 hrs to overnight. Boil until soft. Heat 2 tbs TARU oil/ghee in a vessel and add 1 chopped onion, 1 tsp mustard seeds, 1 tsp cumin seeds, 2 tsp ginger, 1 tsp garlic(optional), and chillis to taste to the pan and cook until a dark brown paste forms. Add the 2 tbs tomato paste, 2 tsp coriander, garam masala, and 1tsp turmeric to the pan and let it cook for 1 minute more. Add the cooked chickpeas, TARU natural salt to taste, and a 1/2 cup of water to the pan and let it simmer for a half hour. Season with more salt if needed and add 1 tbs tamarind paste. Give one boil. Serve with garnishing of fresh coriander.
Recipe: Basic Hummus
Firstly, dry roast 2 tbsp sesame seeds on low flame till it turns golden brown. Blend to fine powder. Now in a blender take 1 cup chickpea / chana. Add in 3 clove garlic, ¼ tsp cumin powder, ½ lemon, ½ tsp TARU natural salt, 2 tbsp roasted sesame seeds powder. Blend to smooth paste adding ¼ cup TARU Sesame oil. Transfer the hummus into bowl and garnish with a ½ tsp sesame oil and sprinkle TARU red chilli powder (optional). Serve basic hummus recipe with falafel or as a dip to vegetables.
